As I have mentioned many times on this blog, I am trying to go back home to Texas some time early next year. As I have also mentioned many times, money is very very very tight. So, I am always trying to think of ways to earn extra cash so that I can save up for things like a car and such (since I will be going without my family). But of course, France feels the need to not allow me to work until I am 18.. So earning money hasn't really happened much except for the occasional babysitting job. I have had a few ideas like the one I am about to bring up, but I don't really go through with them. I'm always afraid it will be a complete failure which would be a bit embarrassing for me. But, since this blog is going a little better than I was expecting, and since I just really want to go home, I am putting myself out there, taking a chance, and going through with one of my ideas!
I just started another blog called
Comely Calligraphy. Basically if it goes as planned, I'll be fancying up envelopes and cards and such while bringing in a little bit of extra money. I realize that I am not at all close to being as talented as some of the professionals out there who do this. But I do think I am a whole lot cheaper. Which will hopefully be my edge.
So please do check it out! The prices are cheap and approximate (I'm flexible and desperate;) and spread the word to any friends who might be having an upcoming wedding, birthday, shower, ect. :)
Good idea for comely calligraphy! I really hope you get customers soon! I'll definately mention it around, who knows! How about skype english lessons? I'm not sure exactly how you go about it,but I know that people do do it, you could look into that aswell. Or how about crafting things and trying to sell them on Etsy??
ReplyDeleteTake care, you have a lovely blog!

Hm I've never thought of the skype idea before! Unfortunately for me, English is one of those things I know how to speak, but no idea how to teach haha and for the etsy idea, I thought about that a few months ago, and honestly I think it sounds fun and I would love to! But when I make things, half of the time they don't turn out too well.. So I'm a bit afraid of pursuing that. But if comely calligraphy doesn't turn out, then I might think about doing it.
DeleteAnd thanks for your sweet comments! Especially since I've just started blogging, comments make my day :)
You're welcome! It's anonymous coz I havn't quite figured out how to log in properly yet, plus I mostly check all the blogs I follow whilst I'm at work so don't want to leave too many traces. Must pretend to be serious!! Keep up the blogging anyway, your entries are always entertaining and interesting.

Haha funny :) And thanks, I most definitely will!
DeleteDo you have any blogs of your own?
I'm a bit new to crafting and craft blogs in general (like maybe 2 months max!) and I've suddenly just developped a passion for all things crafty where you can re-use and recycle and create! I never thought I was artistic before! So I'm trying out a few crafts before hand and then I'll start my own blog...at some point^^
ReplyDeleteOtherwise for skype lessons or other lessons (try putting up an add on "Leboncoin.fr") or universities or secondary schools (highschool to you! I'm a Brit) you could always give 'Conversation classes' that way you get to talk, to listen and correct but not give explanations, just help with accent and pronounciation. One of the problems in French education is that there is not enough focus on speaking.
Anyway, hope that helps!

That's kind of like me actually! I really started being crafty just about a year ago. But it's funny because usually I am really organized and such. Crafting kind of makes me the opposite haha Well make sure to tell me once you've started it! :)
DeleteOk thanks for the advise! I appreciate it a lot! :)
